Review of Intex Challenger K1

Here in the kayaking guide we take kayaking very seriously, and most weekends and holidays we are on the water. If we didn’t have a day job, we’d probably spend the whole week in a kayak on the water!

In the past we have been asked what our recommendation would be for a kayak that is really cheap, strong and easy to transport, and that would be well suited for occasional use of a non-serious kayak.

We recommend without hesitation the Intex Challenger K1 kayak. If you click on the link below, you will receive a large discount at Amazon, which currently also offers free shipping.

Then why the Intex Challenger K1 kayak?

Everything you need is delivered directly with the kit, you get a kayak, a pump, a paddle and a kit to repair it in case of a leak. However, we recommend that you invest in a lifejacket.

As mentioned in the introduction, this is a really cheap kayak, especially if you get it at a reduced price with free navigation on the Amazon. However, one should take into account the price and not expect too much from this kayak. It’ll be great if you don’t have to worry about the quiet lake, but you can’t cope on snow-white rapids!

The included pump works very well and with this hand pump you can inflate the Intex Challenger in about 10 minutes. It can also be emptied in a few minutes so that it can be packaged and stored quickly.

This inflatable kayak is made of durable plastic and is also very stable on the water, which is ideal for beginners in kayaking.

Like all inflatable kayaks it is easy to store and light enough to be transported over short distances. He weighs less than 30 pounds, which means that the average person should be able to blow him up and carry him on the water without any problems.

We were impressed with the storage space in the boat, the large space behind the seat provides space for a small cooler, while the front loading net is ideal for things you want to get hold of quickly on the water.

It is also equipped with a black carrying bag made of highly resistant material, which has the shape of a large briefcase, making it easy to carry and store and providing some protection for the kayak.

Intex Challenger K1Customer Comments

Most users of the Intex Challenger K1 kayak were looking for an inexpensive kayak to get out and about and have fun with. There were also some serious kayaking enthusiasts who were impressed by the K1.

Some users will say so;

Very good price for occasional kayakers (like us!) who tend not to spend a lot of money on kayaks or roadracks.

As a child I loved kayaking in the camp and wanted my children to experience it, but I could not bear the costs or difficulties of transportation. This inflatable is the ideal solution for a part of the price.

The price of this kayak would be crucial if you just want to have fun on the lake or on a fresh river or if you want to use the water quietly. Users asked several questions about the fact that the paddle is not of very good quality. With the money saved for a kayak we offer to buy a lifejacket and a new paddle.

We recommend the Intex Challenger K1 for occasional users, for kayakers or for those who want to christen their toes in the kayak before investing in something bigger. A nice kayak for a great price!

The Intex Challenger K1 68305E and Intex Challenger K1 68305E are inflatable kayaks made from a durable and tough vinyl fabric designed to last. It has highly visible images that make it easy for others to see you. The cabin, designed for comfort and space, is equipped with an inflatable seat and backrest. The kayak is actually designed for low flow lakes and rivers. Because of its shallow design, it cannot be expected to penetrate wild water banks or strong ocean currents. This kayak has a streamlined design and the inflatable seat is designed for a single passenger.

On purchase of the Intex Challenger K1 68305E, the kit includes a digging knife, inflatable seat and footrest, pump, carrying bag and repair kit. Many critics have said that the paddle is a bit uncomfortable, so it is better to look for a paddle to suit your needs than to rely on the product that comes with it. Also use an electric pump for faster inflation, but beware of excessive inflation. The supplied pump is only a hand pump, so it may take some time to pump the kayak with it. However, use common sense when blowing up a kayak. Adjust the inflation rate accordingly and avoid excessive inflation that can lead to bursting of the seams (you won’t want this condition if you go in an inflatable kayak).

As said, this kayak only works on quiet lakes and rivers. You shouldn’t expect it to be pursued as a more expensive model, because you won’t have much success with it. However, the success of monitoring largely depends on the skills of the man rowing. So, if you’re qualified enough, you won’t be a problem. In any case, the feathers of this kayak are good enough for you to find no problem.

The price of the Intex Challenger K1 68305E inflatable kayak is very affordable. Amazon sells it for about $100, which is a good price for students or beginners in kayaking. Although it is intended for one person only, it is ideal for people 60 years old and weighing 190 pounds. Although he uses the supplied hand/foot pump, according to the customer he never needed more than 4 minutes to inflate his kayak. Meanwhile, he managed to fill four canoe rooms with air before flying to the water. He even built the pump in the kayak, behind the seat, in case it had to be filled later. But instead of 4 minutes, it actually takes 10 to 15 minutes to fill all the air chambers. To let the air escape from the kayak, start with the bottom bubble. Once this part is empty, you can use a towel to dry the inside. Then blow on the torso, start rolling the end furthest away from the valve, and when you reach the valve, roll the opposite end towards the valve. This gives you the maximum air volume. The storage and transport of kayaks is the wind. You can store it in a small fabric suitcase, which is about twice the size of a suitcase. He only weighs 25 pounds, which is relatively easy. So if you have to carry it about 0.5 miles to reach the river, it won’t be a big problem if you let your hand rest on your shoulder while driving. At the front there is a storage space for the bungee cord, which is perfect for carrying a belt bag, water bottles, sandals, a spare blade, etc. Another storage space is located behind the seat where, for safety reasons, a hand pump can be placed.

The Intex Challenger K1 shows that manoeuvring an inflatable kayak can be very easy and ideal for use on the river. The boat is equipped with two small plastic barrels, approximately the size of your open palm. These skegas are centrally located beneath the boat to add a little directional stability and allow you to turn easily while maintaining a fairly stable, non-zigzag rowing pattern. For use in lakes, the customer suggested the use of back shells, although these also limit fast turns. The buoyancy of the kayaks is also very good. It tends to sink to the bottom of sandbanks when there are less than 6 water bodies. Although the rudder is of good quality, it appears to be a little short (86 ). Try to buy a pair of 96 knives at your local sports shop. They’ll work much better for you.

The vinyl design of the Intex Challenger K1 68305E is actually quite good, but that doesn’t mean it won’t leak. However, if you find leaks, the vinyl repair kit supplied with the purchase of the kayak is sufficient for small leaks. Since you get a little wet while kayaking, we advise you to wear a bathing suit or nylon pants. Most water penetrates in calm water if you are not careful when launching or landing. Also bring a small towel to keep your hands and chair dry and wipe the kayak after use to remove dirt or water before storing it.

What did others say about the Intex Challenger K1 68305E?

About 50% of the customers who bought the Amazon Intex Challenger K1 68305E kayak are very satisfied. They gave five stars for the price, a package deal. It is lightweight, can be quickly inflated and deflated, is easy to store and is perfect for a small compact vehicle as no truck or roof rack is required to transport kayaks. You can easily dispose of the kayak in the trunk of the car, because everything fits in the included sports bag. However, the main disadvantage of this kayak, apart from complaints about the oars, is that the product does not come with warranty. We don’t know if it’s a very reasonable price and we don’t really need a guarantee. A customer awarded a star to this product when his paddle broke in half during his first kayak trip. When he contacted customer service for a replacement, the product was not in stock according to customer service and could not even be replaced free of charge. That’s actually quite logical, because the trains probably only need to be purchased as extras. However, the lack of a warranty on the kayak itself should (perhaps) make you think twice before buying this article.
